By now, most everybody and their mother has seen the company promo images H&M has released for their upcoming and now annually anticipated November collab, this year being Jimmy Choo. Having seen the collection, I must say the clothing looks a bit ho-hum…my guess is the eventual consensus will be the men’s collection offered quality-made wardrobe staples with the added plus of the Jimmy Choo label. As far as the shoes go, the above pair are definitely a hot hot hot looking set. Per Swedish conversion, 1300 Kronor translates to around 198 USD, which, is completely a good price to me.
The image is from ShinyStyle and is reportedly a leaked image from the yet to be released collaboration between shoe label Jimmy Choo and H&M this coming November.
I posted about this collaboration back when the news was first announced. This style above is so on-trend from the most recent set of fashion weeks (Fall 2009 collections).
Prada’s versions look almost (to me) like a version of wellies:
But my favorite interpretations of these boots were those done by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton’s glitz and glammed out collection for Fall 2009, which also showcased those rabbit ears that make for great editorial accents (and plus, you can do no harm by using Jessica Stam to present the look):

The Jimmy Choo X H&M thigh-highs will sell for around $345 reportedly.
I’m excited to see what the collaboration has in store for men!

Given my settings, it’s always a stretch when it comes to what H&M advertises and what my local H&M releases onto the sales floor. Smart company. You would think that as a Swedish mega-retailer from afar, they might be fooled into the illusion that a store in the Mall of America could be a cash cow prime hotspot for hot trend pieces. Nope. It’s still just us the non-forward consumer here.
Message to H&M: Please take note of my sarcasm and do something nice for your customers here in Minneapolis who actually care.
Regardless, I always find myself making a trip every so often in the renewed hope that I will find that piece…you know, the one that you feel is a cheap but smart addition to your wardrobe…it’s the romance of the H&M ethos… My most recent trip was a couple weeks ago…and although I dream of the day Men’s Trend pieces — military band jackets and all — will pop up at my outpost, I think I’d sooner better serve myself by moving out East again.
Regardless, I managed to pick up the following two pieces, which I cannot wait to wear once the weather feels right:
This simple track jacket caught my attention because of the shimmery black fabric it’s made from. I found it in the divided section, and it also came in purple… The sheen lends an almost (I daresay) wet effect to the jacket, it’s thin enough to wear pretty soon…over a simple tee and a pair of either black or raw denim skinnies? At $29.90, the pricepoint is excellent.
A closeup of the material…
And then I picked up this second piece almost as an afterthought because I already have plenty of similar variations back in my closet.
Nothing earth-shattering here. It’s the standard $79.90 pricepoint trench H&M puts out every so often during the transition seasons. Only this time, it was in a dark navy, which is a trench color I have yet to acquire, so that was also a justification I guess. The details in this rendition are pretty good…I especially like the plaid lining inside.
It didn’t occur to me until more recently, however, that this trench might be one of the key items the company is trying to push for this coming fall. As new fall campaign images have surfaced, I’ve found myself taking a second look:

Now everytime I don my trench this fall, I’ll feel just as hot and sexy as Nick or Andres. I’m such a sucker for good advertising.
…per press release from today:
JIMMY CHOO BRINGS GLAMOUR TO H&M THIS AUTUMN
This autumn, British accessory brand Jimmy Choo will bring its international glamour and covetable shoes and bags to selected H&M stores. The collection will be available from November 14 in around 200 stores across the world. It is the first time that H&M is collaborating with an accessories brand, and to celebrate Jimmy Choo will extend its design vision for this collection to women’s clothing to complement the accessories. Further exciting news is that this collaboration includes a men’s collection of shoes, bags and accessories.”
To be honest, I’ve never understood the appeal of Jimmy Choo. To me, there’s never been anything I found stylistically unique… Now, Christian Louboutin and his red-lacquered soles on the other hand…
Jimmy Choo has never produced anything for men, so perhaps this is my opportunity to keep an open mind. I wish some of the mens products were included in the press release photos. It saddens me that this is another 200-store-only release though…do I feel a roadtrip to Chicago on the 14th coming up…?
If any of you get a peak at the mens, pass it along my way too!
